The Birth of an Idea

A few years ago I decided to pause for a moment and take stock in my life.  I was not that happy and wanted to examine why.  I realized I felt like I was suffocating.  I had lived in the same general area my whole life, had the same far less than perfect job for over a decade, and had not really stepped outside of my life as I had known it for 36 years.  That is when the idea of “I Have Three Questions” was birthed.  Originally, my idea was to hop in the car and travel the country asking folks three specific questions about the town in which they lived and then blog about it.  I approached a very close friend of mine and asked her to join me on this crazy adventure.  She declined.  My dream of traveling the country and finding out what other people were doing in their lives fizzled, but my idea never did.  It has been bouncing around this head of mine like a metal ball in a pinball machine.  Recently, I had dinner with a close and long time friend of mine.  We chatted about my lackluster job and my desire to do what I really love…  write.  I told her my three questions idea.  She rattled off several ideas about how I could get the blog going.  It was in that moment I knew I would finally make my dream of having my “I Have Three Questions” blog a reality.  So with the support and encouragement of my friend and my boyfriend, I have decided to take the ball and run with it.  But instead of traveling and talking to folks around this country, I decided to talk to people around me about their lives and their own personal stories.  I think we are all fascinated by the lives of others.  I hope that anyone who reads this blog will find comfort in knowing that we all have a very similar story in life and that we are all interesting and rich creatures.  The more I talk to people, the more I feel at home.  If you want to know about someone, just ask them a few questions.
